SMACNA LOS ANGELES “PLEASED AND PROUD”
TO SUPPORT NEW HORIZONS FOUNDATION
Los Angeles, California and Chantilly, Virginia……In announcing its Regent-level commitment of $100,000 to the New Horizons Foundation, the SMACNA Los Angeles Board of Directors described the Chapter as “pleased and proud” to join the Foundation’s Summit Challenge Council.
SMACNA Los Angeles President Richard Rivera ((Key Air Conditioning Contractors, Inc., Santa Fe Springs, CA) expressed the Chapter’s enthusiasm for this new partnership with the Foundation. “We are impressed with what the Foundation has produced to date and we look forward to this new working relationship. We can think of no better Industry investment than the creation of tools that ensure a bright future for our members and our Industry".
Foundation Chairman Emeritus Ron Rodgers noted the Foundation’s appreciation for the Los Angeles Chapter pledge. “We know that our objective is to reach as many HVAC and sheet metal contractors across the country as we can. When we get such enthusiastic support as this, we are confident that the Foundation’s research and its educational programs are hitting their mark with our industry members.”
The New Horizons Foundation, organized in 2001, has received industry commitments totaling close to $5 million towards an initial goal of $8 million. The Foundation’s Summit Challenge Campaign enlists support from sheet metal and HVAC contractors, SMACNA Chapters, and industry partners.
The Foundation commissions comprehensive studies of considerable value to the sheet metal and HVAC industry. Projects are carried out at leading universities and research institutes, as recommended by the Summit Challenge Council. Eight studies are now complete on topics including Schedule Compression, Lean Production, Tools and Materials, Change Orders, and Procurement Chain Management. As each study is issued throughout 2005, its findings and recommendations will be presented in a seminar format at various Chapter and industry events throughout the country. An additional six research projects are in progress.
