Summary
The 2016 Futures Study Update begins with a review and analysis of the 2012 study with a focus on the viability of the predictions outlined in the earlier report. The publication offers a broad environmental sweep, an examination of unanticipated changes, and validation or modifications to the 2012 implications and emerging trends.
For this update, research included multiple in-depth interviews with sheet metal contractors, HVAC equipment manufacturers, and other industry participants; and an interactive workshop with HVAC and sheet metal contractors. A quantitative survey garnered more than 300 responses from building owners, facilities managers, mechanical contractors, and HVAC contractors.
The report concludes with a section identifying five key implications that contractors will need to understand, focus on and improve, in order to be successful over the next 3-5 years.
